We want to welcome everyone who has an interest in Master Data or Data Quality from experts to anyone just wanting to get more information about the new technologies introduced in SQL Server 2008 R2 and SQL Server 2012. 

Along with our  guest speakers, we will also be hosting open chalk-talks to encourage PASS community members to get more involved.  During these sessions we invite you to bring your specific questions and pain points to the thought leaders of the community for open discussions.

MDM and Master Data Services 2012

Businesses depend on reliable data that can be managed effectively and shared throughout the enterprise. In this session we will look at how Master Data Services 2012 can provide a solid platform for your organization's  master data management implementation. We will spend a majority of the session building a model, loading it with data and then refining it to highlight the features and capabilities that are available both out-of-box and through the excel plug-in.

About the Presenter: 

Chris Price is a Sr. BI Consultant with Pragmatic Works based out of Tampa, FL. He has a B.S. in MIS and a MBA, both from the University of South Florida. He began his career as a developer workign his way into a software archietect role before being bitten by the BI bug. His current focus is on ETL, Data Integration, Data Quality, MDM, SSAS, SharePoint and Big Data. Chris regularly speaks at SQL Saturdays, Code Camps and other community events. He has authored multiple white papers and books and served as technical editor for a range of BI topics. Looking for MDS\DQS Chalk Talk Topics - Submit Now!!!
The MDS\DQS Chalk talk sessions will meet bi-weekly as a forum for interactive exchange on all aspects of Master Data and Data Quality. The purpose of these meetings is to foster collaborative problem solving interactions between PASS Community Members specifically related to Master Data and Data Quality. These meetings will be held at a local chapter as well as online.

Each meeting will feature one of the core capabilities of master Data or Data Quality with a short presentation followed by an informal discussion on the topic. The meetings are open to the community, and we encourage broad participation across PASS.
If you have a specific topic you would like to have one of the sessions focus on, please send an email to masterdata@sqlpass.org and include the following:

• Topic Title
• User Story
• Problem Statement
• Why this is hard to solve

Example:

• Topic Title: Bidirectional asynchronous updates from Master Data Services and Data Quality Services
• User Story: As a line of business application owner, I want to have address information in my application compared to golden records for duplicates and also have it CASS-Certified in as near real-time as possible.
• Problem Statement: What MDM design pattern(s) do I use to facilitate bidirectional data synchronization with LOB applications?
• Why this is hard to solve: There are many variables that play into this problem. What are the LOB applications? How is it secured? Am I allowed to update a golden record? If the connection to the LOB application is down, how do I guarantee the updates are applied when the application comes back online?
